Rostraver commissioners approve winery development plan
Rostraver residents may soon be enjoying a winery in township.
Commissioners on Wednesday approved the land development plan to convert part of the Vinoski home at 333 Castle Drive into a winery. The approval is contingent on the state Department of Transportation approving a highway occupancy permit for the project. The winery is expected to open later this month.
Walter and Roxanne Vinoski are part owners of Greendance Winery in Mt. Pleasant, and now want to convert the four-car garage of the Rostraver mansion into the winery. The mansion has eight bedrooms, a nanny suite, 13 bathrooms and marble foyer flanked by two circular staircases. A large room inside the rear entrance is already equipped with a bar and will be used as a tasting room.
Vinoski Winery plans to also host weddings and other large events on the property. The Vinoskis purchased the 33-acre property near Willowbrook Golf Course out of bankruptcy.
Commissioners on March 1 granted a conditional use for agritourism at the property.
Commissioners also passed a resolution declaring Stonegate Development Inc. in default of its development agreement. The township entered into an agreement with Stonegate Development, Inc./Lezzer Holdings, Inc. on March 7, 2007, for the development of a housing plan. The resolution states that the Stonegate is in default of the agreement for failing to complete public utilities installation, storm water management and earthwork in the amount of $49,605. A letter will be sent to claim the amount of $49,605 from CNB Bank, where Stonegate Development purchased a letter of credit in the amount of $165,521.
