Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back turned artist Baron Batch is shown leading a group of West Greene students in an art project in teacher Adrienne Day’s elementary art class. The West Greene Spring Arts Night at the school tonight will celebrate the student-inspired art that Batch helped the children work on during his various visits in the winter and spring semesters. Rice Energy donated canvasses and other supplies that students used for the projects. Batch added his own art to them and they are on display on the walls of the elementary school. Batch and Day will be there to discuss the importance of art in education. The exhibit opens at 5:30 and the school’s spring concert begins at 7 p.m.
