Two 17-year-old Finleyville girls, both students at Ringgold High School, and a Duquesne man were injured in a one-vehicle crash early Friday in Carroll Township.

Police Chief Paul Brand said the vehicle, driven by one of the girls, was driving east on Fourth Street Extension near Snyder Avenue about 2 a.m. went it off the road through several yards, causing damage. The vehicle then veered across the road and went through additional yards before coming to rest.

The driver was taken to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh. Devin Dudas, 20, of Duquesne, who Brand said was a front-seat passenger, was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. The other 17-year-old girl, who was seated in the back seat, was taken to Monongahela Valley Hospital. A 19-year-old Eighty Four man who also was in the back seat was not injured.

Brand said it is not known what the teenagers were doing out at 2 a.m. He said speed and inexperience of the driver appeared to be factors in the crash, which is still under investigation.

The chief said drug paraphernalia was found in the vehicle. He said that aspect of the incident also is under investigation.

The road was closed for about an hour, the chief said. Assisting at the scene were Monongahela police, Valley Inn firefighters and Tri-Community Ambulance. Brand expects the driver to face traffic citations.
