ALLISON PARK, Pa. (AP) — Officials have released the names of an elderly couple involved in a murder-suicide at an upscale, independent living apartment community for retired people north of Pittsburgh.

Investigators believe 83-year-old Julius Ceccarelli shot his 80-year-old wife, Angela, before fatally shooting himself. The shootings were reported shortly after 6:30 a.m. Monday at Cumberland Woods Village in McCandless Township.

Investigators say the couple had lived in the community for about two years and weren’t known to have a troubled marriage. The investigation continued Tuesday.

Police were called by someone who heard the gunfire and arrived to find Angela Ceccarelli dead in bed and her husband dead in a bathroom.

The residence run by the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. UPMC spokeswoman Gloria Kreps called the shootings tragic.
