A South Strabane Township couple face charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance stemming from an incident early Thursday on Racetrack Road at Meadows Drive in North Strabane Township.

Facing charges are Keith Dylan Farmer, 25, and Michelle Alexandra Dorance, 24, both of 4006 Stonecreek Lane.

Police were called about 12:35 a.m. for a two-vehicle crash at the intersection. A vehicle driven by Farmer reportedly struck another vehicle while making a left turn.

While at the scene, Dorance, who owned the vehicle, handed police the insurance information. While speaking with her, police noticed she was swaying back and forth and she was staggering. When the officer asked her if she was OK, she told him she had just taken sleeping pills and was about to go to bed when her fiancé called about the crash. Dorance reportedly showed signs of impairment during three field sobriety tests.

Charges will be filed pending laboratory results of blood drawn from both of them.
