DUI, fleeing arrest: William F. Hoskin, 48, of 612 Madiera St., New Eagle, was arrested early Saturday by Monongahela police on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, depositing waste on a road, fleeing or attempting to elude police and careless driving after a traffic stop on Main Street in New Eagle. Police attempted to stop him after he threw a lit cigarette out the window of his vehicle. The officer activated the emergency lights on the cruiser, but Hoskin reportedly failed to stop for another quarter mile. He was arraigned before District Judge Traci McDonald and released on $5,000 unsecured bond.

Assault arrest: John Robert Coan, 28, of Delray Beach, Fla., was arrested early Saturday by North Franklin police on charges of simple assault and harassment after he allegedly slapped his girlfriend while she was in the front seat of a vehicle in the parking lot of a West Chestnut Street fast food restaurant. Coan was arraigned before District Judge Traci McDonald and placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.

Pole hit: Hassan Hashi Abdulle, 53, of Columbus, Ohio, escaped injury Thursday night when the eastbound tractor-trailer he was driving on Interstate 70 approaching the Interstate 79 southbound off ramp at the south junction between the two highways hit a guard rail. The rig went through the guard rail and struck a light pole, coming to rest in the median.

Cards stolen: An employee of Rite Aid, 1001 Jefferson Ave., reported to Washington police Thursday a man and a woman took $100 to $200 of Pokemon cards without paying and left the store.

Boyfriend arrested: Jeremy David Shipley, 28, of 109 Millsboro Road, Rices Landing, was arrested Saturday by state police for allegedly assaulting his 27-year-old girlfriend the previous night in the 1900 block of Lone Pine Road, West Bethlehem. The two were at a party in Marianna. She wanted to leave, so she started walking. Shipley arrived in his vehicle, got out and started arguing with her. He reportedly pushed her and she fell and hit her head. He fled on foot and she drove herself to Washington Health System – Greene where she was diagnosed with a concussion, police said. Shipley was arraigned before District Judge Traci McDonald on charges of simple assault and harassment. He was placed in Washington County jail on $25,000 bond.
