Peace negotiator to speak at W&J
International peace negotiator Mary Montague, who is in residence at Washington & Jefferson College, will give a free public lecture at 7 p.m. Monday in Allen Ballroom of Rossin Campus Center on W&J’s campus. Her talk is titled, “Relinquishing Power: The Heart and Soul of Mediation.”
Montague, of Belfast, Ireland, spent decades promoting peace around the world. She was a mediator in the Northern Ireland conflict, where she worked to support the development of the ceasefires and the Good Friday Agreement.
She co-founded TIDES Training & Consultancy, which gives ex-combatant groups and security leaders a place to recover from trauma they endured during the conflict.
