Crisis team set up at Belle Vernon Area HS following teacher’s death
Belle Vernon Area High School set up a crisis team Tuesday in response to the unexpected death of a math teacher a day earlier.
The district also made counselors available for students and staff to talk about the death of David Mills of Forward Township, Allegheny County.
Mills was also a photographer who captured countless student portraits and other photos of students at sporting events.
“He was a great teacher who cared for many students and we will miss him greatly,” the district stated on its website.
Mills, 51, was found dead in a garage at a private residence in the 4700 block of Williamsport Road, said the Allegheny County medical examiner’s office.
He was pronounced dead at 11 p.m. at the scene. The manner of death was listed as suicide.
