Washington police have released the name of the man injured in a shooting Sunday morning in Maple Terrace, in which a 25-year-old Washington man was killed.

Travis Larson

Travis Larson, 25, of Washington, was pronounced dead at Washington Hospital shortly after the 3 a.m. shooting. Shaquore Yarbrough, 24, also of Washington, is being treated at a Pittsburgh hospital. Police expect him to recover from his injuries.

Chief Robert Wilson said police were called to a pull-off area in the 500 block of Maple Terrace. The initial call came in as shots fired, with one person injured, but when police arrived they found two victims.

City police detectives interviewed and later released one person described as a person of interest Sunday.

Detectives continue to collect evidence and follow up on any leads, according to a news release. Wilson said there is no description of the suspect available at this time.

No further information was available.

Several residents living near Larson’s former home at 137 Maple Ave. declined to be interviewed Monday. They identified his mother as Tami Perry, who started a GoFundMe account to help with funeral expenses, writing, “Travis was a loving, caring person whose life was taken from him due to a senseless tragedy. He was shot and killed by a bullet that was not meant for him. He leaves behind a son who he adored and was raising as a single father with the help of his mom and girlfriend. He will never get to meet his unborn daughter, which he was extremely excited for. His family loved him more than anything and can’t believe he is gone at such a young age.”

City police ask that anyone with information on the shooting to call detectives at 724-223-4224.
