South Strabane police investigating armed robbery at Murtland BP station
A clerk at the BP station on Murtland Avenue told South Strabane Township police the man who robbed her at gunpoint Tuesday night was polite and well-spoken.
The clerk at the store at 100 Murtland told police she was stocking a cooler about 8:50 p.m. when the robber approached her from behind and grabbed her right arm. He then pointed a small, silver handgun at her.

“He told her that as long as she cooperated, he was not going to hurt her,” said Detective Michael Schidlmeier. “He kept the gun pointed at her.”
The robber asked her if anyone else was in the store. He then followed her to the cash register. She removed money, placed it in a bag and handed it to the robber. He left in the direction of North Avenue and Motel 6.
Police from South Strabane, East Washington and Washington, along with state troopers, canvassed the area around the station. North Strabane Township police Sgt. Matt Mancini and his K-9, Drago, also joined in the search.
Schidlmeier said the robber was white, with a medium build and was wearing a Guy Fawkes mask, dark, hooded sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and black shoes.
Anyone who might have seen the suspect or who has information on the robbery is asked to call township police at 724-225-8111.
