A Canonsburg man wanted on a state parole violation faces more charges after allegedly running from Washington police Saturday night in a city neighborhood.

Adam Snatchko Sr., 45, of 502 Giffin Ave., was taken into custody after running through several yards, police said.

Police were called about 6:40 p.m. for a report of a suspicious person loitering in the area of Bruce and Maple avenues. Police said they spotted Snatchko, who matched the description given by the caller, hiding behind a house.

A witness told police Snatchko had been lurking in the area for some time, walking through yards. The officer turned his cruiser around and drove back to the intersection. After seeing Snatchko walk back around a house, the officer parked his cruiser and got out to talk with people in the area. Snatchko then ran across the street and into an alley, police said.

The officer got back into his cruiser to pursue Snatchko, who reportedly ran through several yards. Snatchko eventually stopped and put his hands in the air. Police said he initially gave the officer a false name and said he was wanted on a parole violation for escape. Snatchko allegedly told police he was in the area because he was going to meet a man to purchase drugs.

Snatchko was placed in Washington County jail on the violation. Police will charge him with flight to avoid apprehension and false identification to police. He will be arraigned later before District Judge Robert Redlinger.
