Chartiers mother accused of DUI, child endangerment

A Chartiers Township woman was charged last week by state police with driving under the influence of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of children in connection with an early morning traffic stop Aug. 23 in Washington.
Debra Lynn Cianflone, 32, of 349 Pershing Ave., Houston, also is charged with false identification to police, careless driving, driving with a suspended license and failure to have her child properly restrained.
Troopers were on patrol about 1:10 a.m., going west on East Maiden Street near South Main Street, when they spotted a vehicle in front of them with an obscured license plate. Police were unable to read the plate and stopped the vehicle.
Cianflone was driving the vehicle, police said, and her daughters, ages 7 and 9, were in the vehicle along with another person. When she was asked for her license, Cianflone reportedly told the trooper she did not have it with her. When he asked for her name and birthdate, she gave him another name and date of birth, police said. Police determined that was false and said she later gave her actual name and birthdate.
She was given a field sobriety test by a drug recognition expert, who determined she showed signs of impairment by a controlled substance. Cianflone allegedly admitted to smoking marijuana and doing “a couple lines of coke.”
Cianflone was taken to Washington Hospital, where blood was drawn. The blood was sent to the state police crime laboratory and tested positive for cocaine, police said.
The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
