Two injured: Timothy Hughes, 23, and Carl Cole, 69, both of Washington, were injured Sunday afternoon when their vehicles collided at Route 40 and East Buffalo Church Road in Buffalo Township. State police said Hughes pulled into the path of Cole’s vehicle, which was going east on Route 40. Hughes’ vehicle then spun into a vehicle owned by Gina Fritz of Washington that was parked at 3560 Route 40. Cole was taken to Washington Hospital for hand and elbow injuries. Hughes was treated at the scene for facial and leg injuries.

Warrant arrest: Michael Richmond, 37, who has addresses in Washington and Glassport, was taken into custody Monday night by Canonsburg police on a warrant obtained by Glassport police stemming from a June 26 traffic stop. He was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward on charges of possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia and traffic violations. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bond.

Theft allegations: Bradley Michael Castor, 26, of 308 Washington Ave., Charleroi, is charged by Charleroi Regional police with theft over accusations he stole two remote-controlled cars, a television and video gaming equipment with a combined value of $2,850 from a resident of 308 Washington Ave. in a case reported to police about 6:50 p.m. July 18, court records show. District Judge Larry Hopkins issued the charge by summons Friday.

Man jailed: Vernon Majors, 40, of 300 Indiana Ave., Monessen, is charged by city police with drug possession over allegations he had two small bags of cocaine when an officer arrested him on an unrelated warrant about 7:30 p.m. Friday at 4 Eastgate Plaza, court records show. Majors was placed in Westmoreland County jail on $5,000 bond set by District Judge Joseph Dalfonso.

Men jailed: Terry Lee Workman Jr., 35, of 308 Route 88, Elco, and Lonnie J. Astle, 32, of 79 Elm St., Charleroi, are charged by Roscoe, Elco, Stockdale and Allenport Regional police with burglary, theft and trespassing, court records show. Police accuse them of stealing aluminum from 316 Furlong Ave. Sept. 13 and selling it for scrap. Workman and Astle were placed in Washington County jail on $50,000 bonds set Thursday by District Judge Larry Hopkins.

One injured: Cindy Saulter, 56, of 621 Low Hill Road, Brownsville, was injured Friday morning when her vehicle collided with one driven by Lincoln Schaeffer, 27, of 62 Lena Lane, Washington. South Strabane police said Schaeffer was going west on Route 40 (East Maiden Street) and was attempting to get onto Interstate 79 when he turned into the path of Saulter’s eastbound vehicle. Saulter was taken to Washington Hospital for treatment.

Aggravated assault charge: Donald Stanley Knupp Jr., 30, of 246 E. Prospect Ave., Washington, was charged by Washington police with aggravated assault for allegedly “sucker punching” an 80-year-old man in the face Oct. 4 at American Legion, 168 Park Ave., Washington. Police said Knupp had been talking to Albert Rasel just before punching him in the face, causing him to fall to the ground and momentarily lose consciousness. Police said Knupp then ran from the bar. Rasel was treated at Washington Hospital for fractures to his cheek, eye and jaw, police said, and will require multiple surgeries to repair his injuries. District Judge Robert Redlinger issued the charge by summons Tuesday.

Assault arrest: Yolanda Sanders, 35, who has an East Hallam Avenue address but also is listed as homeless on her criminal complaint, was arrested Monday night by Washington police on charges of aggravated assault, resisting arrest, loitering and prowling at night and disorderly conduct. Police received a report of her loitering around a home at 36 Erie St. about 10:10 p.m. Police said she then ran to a house at 473 E. Hallam. Police said she refused orders to stop and kicked at officers as they tried to take her into custody. She was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.

Assault alleged: Phillip Michael Foeks, 27, of 590 Fayette Ave., Washington, was charged by Washington police with simple assault and harassment in connection with an argument he had with William Myers at noon Sept. 16 at Foeks’ residence. Police said when Myers tried to leave Foeks’ home, Foeks pushed him down and struck him several times in the back of his head with a stick. Myers was treated at Washington Hospital for an arm injury and a cut on his forehead that required stitches. Police advised Myers to get a protection-from-abuse order against Foeks. District Judge Robert Redlinger issued the charges by summons Tuesday.

Elderly woman scammed: A 78-year-old Washington woman told Washington police Monday she was scammed out of $1,275 by a caller who claimed her grandson had been arrested. She was directed to send a $1,250 Moneygram to the caller. She also had to pay a $25 fee for the Moneygram.

Terroristic threats: William Shaw, a 46-year-old inmate at SCI-Smithfield, was charged by Washington police with terroristic threats after his wife, a Washington resident, said she received a threatening letter from him Thursday. Police said in the letter, Shaw threatened to kill the woman and another person. Police said the woman was “in great fear” that Shaw will attempt to harm her when he is released from prison. District Judge Robert Redlinger issued the charge by summons Tuesday.

Woman assaulted: Melissa Gilliam, 25, of Washington, told Washington police she was assaulted by two women while she was at her aunt’s home retrieving items for a woman who is in Washington Hospital. She told police the two pulled her hair, knocked her to the ground and kicked her. Charges are pending.
