Police Beat Oct. 13

Several face charges: A 17-year-old McKeesport boy and his passengers face charges after police say he almost struck a California police cruiser when he failed to stop for a stop sign at the intersection of Third and East streets in the early morning hours of Sept. 24. The 17-year-old will be charged in a juvenile allegation with driving under the influence of alcohol, underage drinking and careless driving. Facing charges of underage drinking are the five passengers: Tamia M. Cook, 18, Shana Hines, 18, and Eric Vaughn Strasser, 18, all of Pittsburgh; Brandon A. Johnson, 18, of McKeesport; and Taylor M. Murphy, 20, of Pitcairn.
Theft reported: Karina Kowalczyk of 1285 Lucia Drive told Canonsburg police Wednesday that a laptop computer, digital camera, Apple iPad and Cricket cutting machine were stolen from her vehicle in June. The items were valued at more than $4,000.
Cement damaged: The owner of Cable Tech, 14 S. Central Ave., told Canonsburg police Wednesday that there were bootprints in fresh cement that had been poured for a parking pad next to her business. She told police this is the second pad to have been damaged.
Gun charge: Christopher Showman, 32, of 732 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, was arrested early Thursday by Charleroi Regional police on a charge of carrying a firearm without a license after he allegedly was found with a gun at his home. Police were there investigating another incident. He was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward and placed in Washington County Jail on $25,000 bond.
One injured: Jordan Nixon, 20, of Washington, crashed his vehicle into a tree and over a hill early Thursday in the 200 block of McConnells Mills Road, Chartiers police said. A passenger, Kenya Davis, 19, of Washington, suffered a minor injury, police said.
Drug arrest: Charles Beadling, 37, of 23 Walnut St., Daisytown, was arrested early Friday by the Washington County Drug Task Force for allegedly selling crack to a confidential source on two occasions in August in Somerset Township. He was arraigned before District Judge Ethan Ward on two counts each of possession and possession with intent to deliver crack and possession of paraphernalia. He was placed in Washington County Jail on $100,000 bond.
Wallet stolen: Michelle Clark of 1036 Sycamore St. told Washington police Wednesday that her wallet containing identification, credit cards and $10 was stolen from her vehicle that was parked behind her home.
Meters damaged: Eight parking meters in the 10 block of North Main Street and on East Chestnut Street were damaged in an attempt to steal change. The damage was reported Wednesday by an employee of the Washington Parking Authority.
