Waynesburg U. students embark on service trips

Thirty Waynesburg University students, faculty and staff members are visiting three locations this week for the annual fall break service trips.
Teams are heading to service trips in Greene County, Gettysburg and Atlanta.
Rea Redd, director of the Eberly Library, and Courtney Dennis, associate director of the Paul R. Stewart Museum, will take a dozen students to Gettysburg this week before returning Thursday. While there, they will partner with Gettysburg National Military Park for projects on the battlefield and at the Daniel Lady Farm.
Resident directors Anthony Jarrell and Liz Diviney are leading seven students to serve at the Dream Center in Atlanta this week before returning Sunday. This is the first year that Waynesburg students will serve at the Dream Center, a national organization of church-led non-profits. The group will be exposed to a variety of ministry opportunities in Atlanta.
Adrienne Tharp, coordinator for the Bonner Scholar Program, will take a team of six students to serve with Greene County Habitat for Humanity this week. The students will assist with building homes in the local area and address substandard housing issues.
