CANONSBURG

Trucks collide: Canonsburg police and firefighters responded to a crash Tuesday morning that involved two Weavertown Environmental Services dump trucks at the intersection of First Street and Gladden Road. Police said a car ran a stop sign at Gladden Road and pulled in front of one truck, forcing the driver to slam on the brakes. The second truck hit the first one from behind. The car did not stop, police said. One of the trucks leaked oil onto the road and into sewer drains. Firefighters worked to clean up the spill, and Weavertown Environmental sent workers to help.

District Judge Larry Hopkins signed a warrant Tuesday for Murphy’s arrest.

HOUSTON

Strangulation, assault charges: Chad Alan Cushey Jr., 27, of 102 E. McNutt St., Houston, was charged by Houston police with strangulation, simple assault and harassment for allegedly attacking his girlfriend Sept. 18. Police said Cushey and his girlfriend had been drinking and arguing early that morning when the woman started to pack her belongings to leave his residence. Police said Cushey allegedly punched the woman in the face and body several times with both fists, bit her on the back and choked her “to the point that she thought she was going to die,” the criminal complaint said. Police said the assault lasted about 15 minutes before Cushey allegedly took the woman’s phone and left the residence. The woman was treated at Canonsburg Hospital for severe swelling around her eyes and face, bruising around her neck and body and a visible bite mark on her back, police said. Cushey was arraigned Wednesday before District Judge David Mark and jailed on $50,000 bond.
