Police: Slovan man pointed gun at girl
A Slovan man was jailed Wednesday for allegedly threatening a girl with a gun Monday evening on Margaret Street near his residence.
Anthony James Mickey, 26, of 104 Elizabeth St., was charged by Smith Township police with aggravated assault, firearms not to be carried without a license, terroristic threats, simple assault, reckless endangerment, harassment and disorderly conduct.
Police said the girl, whose age was not given, told officers she and a friend were playing with other children in a neighbor’s yard just before 7 p.m. Monday when a woman came outside the residence and told her and her friend to leave the Slovan property and threatened to kill them. Police did not say if the girl was acquainted with the woman.
The girl and her friend left the residence and were walking up Margaret Street when a car stopped in front of them and Mickey got out, the criminal complaint said. The girl reportedly told police she did not know Mickey, but that he cocked a gun and pointed it at her.
The girl told police Mickey threatened her and her friend, telling them if they came around again he would put a bullet in them, the complaint said.
Police said the girl was able to identify Mickey through a photo and also identified his vehicle.
Mickey was arraigned Wednesday afternoon by District Judge Gary Havelka and jailed on $20,000 bond.
