Reward offered in South Park pedestrian death

A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the person who was driving a vehicle that hit and killed a New Eagle man seen walking along a South Park road on Oct. 9.
South Park police received several 911 calls just before 10 p.m. for a report of a man lying in the roadway in the area of 3541 Snowden Road. They arrived and found John Jenkins, 48, lying in the road with severe head trauma.
The Allegheny County police homicide unit investigated and found that Jenkins had been seen at about 9:30 p.m. walking south along Snowden Road in the area of Connor Road in the northbound lane. A release from Pittsburgh Crime Stoppers said in a news release that it is believed Jenkins “might have been struck by a vehicle after he had originally been lying on the roadway. It’s possible that someone struck Jenkins and thought that they might have struck an object or an animal in the roadway, and continued on.”
Pittsburgh Crime Stoppers is asking anyone with information about the homicide to call 412-255-TIPS. A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and prosecution. Callers may remain anonymous.
