AMWELL

Theft charges: State police charged Jesse A. Czapski, 35, of Amity Ridge Road with theft and receiving stolen property in connection with events that allegedly occurred July 15. A state trooper said a person reported items including Echo trimmers, a DeWalt drill, PlayStation 3 games and a PlayStation 4 camera – with a total value of about $800 – from a residence on Amity Ridge Road. The victim subsequently asked about the items at a Washington pawn shop, where a record of a transaction allegedly showed Czapski had sold the items there. Czapski was charged by summons Monday from District Judge Ethan Ward’s office.

Weapon charge: State police charged Gerald E. Durbin, 62, of Stewart Township, Fayette County, with possessing an offensive weapon. Police said they found a 10-inch butcher knife in a vehicle that had run out of gas Sept. 27 in the 700 block of Route 40 during the arrest of someone who was in the vehicle with Durbin, who allegedly told police the knife was his and he “uses it for protection,” according to court records. Charges were filed Tuesday by summons from District Judge Ethan Ward’s office.

BUFFALO

Man charged: Tyler M. Levers, 22, of Gayle Drive, Washington, was charged by state police Tuesday with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness in connection with an incident about 1:30 p.m. Sept. 23. Troopers reportedly stopped a Dodge Avenger on Mounts Road near the intersection with Route 40. Levers allegedly got out of the car’s rear passenger-side door and ran toward a wooded area, dropping a beer bottle, before a trooper tackled him. Levers allegedly told police he’d been involved in a fight at a nearby bar, but refused to answer questions about the supposed altercation. He also allegedly refused to tell police who was driving the car, which left the area while police chased Levers. Charges were sent by summons from District Judge Ethan Ward’s office.

CANONSBURG

Vandalism: Police responded to a report of two juveniles stealing two pumpkins from a property in the 600 block of Franklin Avenue and smashing them.

CANTON

Assault reported: State police said two unknown assailants, one male and one female, who were traveling in a dark red Ford F-350 truck attacked a person on Green Street near the intersection with Jessop Place about 12:38 a.m. Monday. The male attacker reportedly punched and kicked the victim, whom troopers didn’t identify, and the woman struck the victim with a stick. The attackers left the area in the direction of the interstate.

SOUTH FRANKLIN

Charges filed: State police charged a Washington man and Donegal Township woman in connection with an alleged fight on the night of July 15 during a party at a home on Deerfield Road. A trooper responded to the 1200 block of Deerfield, where a resident said a woman with an infant child had come onto the resident’s property and claimed to have been assaulted. The woman, later identified as Leeann R. Willhoft, 25, of Donegal Avenue, told police Melvin C. Ringer II, 35, of Jollick Manor, punched her and pushed her to the ground during an argument. Willhoft reportedly had swelling on her face and dirt on her clothes. Police charged Ringer with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. Ringer claimed he pushed Willhoft to the ground “so she would stop assaulting him,” according to court papers. The trooper also charged Willhoft, who allegedly gave the trooper a false name, with false identification to law enforcement and disorderly conduct. Ringer and Willhoft were charged Monday by summons from District Judge Ethan Ward’s office.
