Woman killed hopping train was Pittsburgh university junior
PITTSBURGH (AP) — Officials at a Pittsburgh university say the woman killed hopping a train in the city was a student and her loss is being mourned at the campus.
Pittsburgh officials said 21-year-old old Lindsey Marie Michaels and a man were hopping trains at the Norfolk Southern tracks on the city’s South Side early Sunday when the woman fell and was dragged under the train. The man also fell and injured his ankle.
Carlow University said Michaels was a junior at the College of Learning and Innovation. A memorial service on campus is planned.
WTAE-TV reports that her mother called Michaels “a good kid” who had just turned 21. She said she believed her daughter and her boyfriend thought it would be fun to try to jump on a train.
