Washington woman charged with stealing from Lone Pine VFD auxiliary
A Washington woman has been charged by state police with taking more than $21,000 from the Lone Pine Volunteer Fire Department auxiliary bank account while she was in control of it. Jody Dee VanVarenberg, 57, was arraigned Tuesday by District Judge Ethan Ward on charges of theft and receiving stolen property and released on $50,000 unsecured bond.
State police said that VanVarenberg allegedly wrote several checks to her business without authorization from the auxiliary fund while she was responsible for that account between March 2014 and December 2016. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 25 before Ward.
