State police are investigating an early-morning burglary at the convenience store in Ruff Creek after the suspect fired a handgun multiple times through a front window to get inside.

Police said the person fired four shots through the window of the Ruff Creek General Store at 720 Washington Road in Washington Township and entered the store at 3:40 a.m. Thursday.

The burglar checked the cash register and safe, but was unable to get any money and left the store, police said.

A store manager, who arrived Thursday morning to find the glass broken, said the window was expected to be fixed later in the day Thursday.

Investigators reviewed surveillance video from the store and said the man, who was wearing a black bandana over his face, has a stocky build and is between 5-foot, 6 inches tall and 6-foot.

Anyone with information on the burglary is asked to call state police at the Waynesburg barracks at 724-627-6151.
