9/11 service planned Monday in South Strabane

The South Strabane Township police and fire departments are hosting a memorial service to remember the 16th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the United States.

The service will begin at 8:45 a.m. Monday at the 9/11 memorial at Washington Mall, 301 Oak Spring Road. The speaker will be retired U.S. Marine Corps Maj. Gen. Stephen Johnson, who was near the Pentagon when it was attacked.

The service also will recognize first responders and the military.
