California police arrest VanVoorhis man for throwing rocks
A VanVoorhis man was arrested Wednesday night by California police on charges including propulsion of missiles and resisting arrest after he allegedly threw rocks at vehicles traveling on a borough street and then struggled with officers.
David Sterling Wright, 48, of 1211 Bentleyville Road, also is charged with terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
Police were called about 9:10 p.m. to Mechanic and Third streets for a report of a man throwing rocks at passing vehicles. When police arrived they saw Wright, who matched the description, trying to flag down a vehicle. He then ran across Third to a bus that had stopped. The officer reportedly heard Wright shouting obscenities as he approached the bus.
Two witnesses told police Wright throwing rocks at passing vehicles.
While being transported to the police station, Wright allegedly threatened to find where one of the arresting officers lived and kill him. While at the station, he allegedly struggled with officers.
Wright was arraigned before District Judge Robert Redlinger and placed in Washington County Jail on $20,000 bond. He is scheduled for a Sept. 25 preliminary hearing before District Judge Joshua Kanalis.
