McDonald police are investigating an apparent attempt to lure a 10-year-old Burgettstown girl after she got off the school bus near her home Friday afternoon.

The girl’s father told police it happened about 3:25 p.m., when his daughter got off the bus near the intersection of Hillcrest Avenue and Fredrick Street. She reportedly encountered the man and woman near Lee and Martin Funeral Home, 73 Highland Ave.

One of them reportedly asked the girl “Do you wanna come with us?,” said Officer Richard France. The girl started running because she was scared, police said. The two reportedly ran after her, but stopped.

“They never touched her,” France said. “No one else was seen in the area and no vehicle was seen.”

France said it is not certain which way the two went after they stopped chasing the girl.

One suspect is a black man, in his mid-20s, with short black hair and a medium build. He was wearing denim shorts. The other suspect is a black woman, also in her mid-20s, with an average build and her hair pulled into a bun. She was also wearing denim shorts along with a blue halter top. The girl told police she had a belly-button ring and a tattoo on her shoulder. The 10-year-old told France she would be able to recognize them if she saw them again.

Police are making extra patrols in the area and broadcast a description of the two suspects.

Anyone with information or who may have seen the man and woman in the area are asked to call McDonald police at 724-926-2105.
