Canton man to stand trial on sex assault charges

A Canton Township man accused of sexually assaulting two girls, one at a Buffalo Township home and the other at a South Strabane Township home, was ordered to stand trial on charges including rape of a child.
Timothy Adam Hewitt, 32, of 70 Point View Drive, also was ordered held for court Monday by District Judge Jay Weller on charges of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, indecent assault and indecent exposure. One count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse was dismissed by Weller.
Hewitt is accused of sexually assaulting and raping a girl in his Buffalo home in 2012. The second assault reportedly happened at a home on Zediker Station Road, as well at Hewitt’s home outside Taylorstown when he was 16.
Hewitt remains free on $100,000 unsecured bond on the charges, but was placed in Washington County jail Monday on a domestic relations bench warrant. He is scheduled to be formally arraigned on the charges Dec. 15.
