Washington police are investigating a report that a 14-year-old girl had a knife held to her throat by a 16-year-old boy Tuesday afternoon while the two were in a garage behind her Jefferson Avenue home.

Officer Todd Foreman, who also is the Washington School District school resource officer, said a third teenager told him about the incident Wednesday.

The alleged victim told police she was with the 16-year-old in the garage about 4 p.m. She had been sitting in a chair when the boy allegedly came up from behind her and pressed what appeared to be a steak knife against her throat. She told Foreman the 16-year-old held it there for at least a minute.

The 14-year-old told the officer she was scared and felt threatened. The 16-year-old then pulled the knife away without saying anything to the girl. When he put the knife down, the girl said she threw it on the floor and told him to leave. As the two of them left the garage, the 16-year-old allegedly threw a Mason jar against a wall, breaking it.

The girl and the officer went into the garage Wednesday, where Foreman said he found a steak knife and broken Mason jar.
