Greene schools receive career readiness grant
The five public school districts in Greene County will share a $10,000 state grant to help prepare students for careers through collaborative activities and a countywide career awareness day, state Rep. Pam Snyder announced Friday.
The local Career Readiness Mini-Grant was awarded by Gov. Tom Wolf, the state Department of Labor & Industry and Team Pennsylvania, a nonpartisan nonprofit created in 1997 to bring government and private sector leaders together for the betterment of Pennsylvania.
“So much more can be accomplished by working with local workforce development boards and focusing career development on regional labor market needs,” said Snyder, D-Jefferson.
The local funding is among $270,000 in grants awarded this week to 64 school districts statewide.
