W&J presents International Week speakers
Washington & Jefferson College is hosting two free events this week that are open to the public as part of its International Week.
Dr. George A. Lopez, one of the world’s ranking experts on economic sanctions and peacebuilding, will speak at 7 p.m. today in the Allen Ballroom of the Rossin Campus Center. Lopez’s lecture, “Negotiations, Mediation and Peacebuilding in Crisis: Dealing with North Korea,” is part of the Walter K. Levy Lecture series hosted by the Department of Conflict and Resolution Studies.
Noman Roule, who recently retired after serving 34 years in the Central Intelligence Agency, is a principal speaker in this year’s annual International Week. Roule will present an address at 6 p.m. Friday entitled “Act Three: The Middle East in 2018” in the Old Main Chapel.
He is a 1983 alumnus of Washington & Jefferson College, where he graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in history. His primary focus while working for the CIA was managing numerous significant programs relating to the Middle East. His most recent assignment before retiring was national intelligence manager for Iran at the Office of the Director of National Intelligence from November 2008 until September 2017.
