District judge in Monessen to retire
MONESSEN – A long-time district judge in Monessen has announced his retirement five months after he was re-elected to another six-year term in office.
Judge Joseph Dalfonso announced his retirement in a letter this week to Gov. Tom Wolf, said a spokeswoman for Westmoreland County District Court Administrator Don Heagy.
His retirement will begin May 1, she said.
Dalfonso was not in his office Thursday afternoon, and he could not be reached for comment.
He has been a district judge in Monessen since 1993, when he was appointed to the office by then-Gov. Robert P. Casey after the former judge retired.
He is part owner of the Mon Valley Independent newspaper in Monessen.
