A Charleroi woman was sentenced Wednesday in federal court to three years’ probation, the first six months of which is to be served on home detention, for her conviction of embezzlement and theft of labor union assets.

Marianne Rodacy, 64, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Cathy Bissoon, who also ordered her to pay a $2,500 fine.

According to information presented to the court, Rodacy was formerly the financial/recording secretary of United Steelworkers Local 10-53-G and from Oct. 1, 2012, to June 24, 2015, she embezzled $21,539 for her personal use.

Bissoon also ordered Rodacy be barred from working for a labor union for 13 years. At the time of sentencing, Rodacy had already paid full restitution to the union for the misappropriated funds.
