No one was injured during a fire at a Monessen duplex Friday afternoon.

Monessen fire Chief Chris Rhome said firefighters were dispatched to the house in the 300 block of Manown Street shortly after 2 p.m. The fire was under control in about 45 minutes.

The three occupants were not home at the time of the fire, but Rhome said the building was “definitely not habitable. Our first crew on scene had very heavy fire protruding out of the rear window of the house.”

The state police fire marshal was investigating.

Along with Monessen, firefighters from Rostraver Central, Charleroi, Carroll Township and Belle Vernon also responded.

Firefighters from Donora and Lock No. 4 were on standby at stations in the city.

Rhome said Salvation Army responded and the Red Cross was notified.
