A Gilmore Township man is facing a felony aggravated cruelty to animals charge after allegedly shooting and killing a dog during a domestic dispute Sunday.

Mark Allen Miller Sr., 56, of 161 Crabapple Valley Road, also faces simple assault, reckless endangerment and harassment charges from the fight.

A unidentified woman came to the state police barracks near Waynesburg Tuesday afternoon to report the incident at Miller’s home Sunday. The woman said Miller hit her in the face, then went to his vehicle to retrieve a shotgun. Miller then shot the dog in the head while it was in the crate, police said.

The victim had a cut on her upper lip, and she also showed the trooper a photo of a dead pit bull mix in its crate, according to court documents.
