CANONSBURG

Shots reported: Canonsburg police investigated a report about 11:50 p.m. Wednesday of shots fired in the 400 block of Giffin Avenue. Police searched the area but found no bullets; however, they did find a small mortar tube that had a fresh smell of fireworks.

Vehicles entered: Stephanie Sappas of Shamrock Lane told Canonsburg police Wednesday that loose change was stolen from two of her unlocked vehicles.

Tablet stolen: Bobbi Jo Glass told Canonsburg police Wednesday that a tablet that had been delivered was stolen from outside her apartment.

Money, checks stolen: Lisa Bartos of Forrest Drive told Canonsburg police Wednesday that $900 and another $900 in checks collected from activities night at Cecil Intermediate School was stolen from her vehicle.

EAST WASHINGTON

Animal neglect charges: Kelli Spence, 24, of 15 N. Wade Ave., East Washington, was charged Wednesday by the Washington County humane officer with abandonment and neglect of animals after the officer received a complaint that animals were abandoned at her home. The officer obtained a search warrant and entered the home, reportedly finding a female dog, a male puppy and two ducklings that did not have proper food or water. Spence was not located. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.

NORTH STRABANE

Assault charge: William D. Breedon, 33, of Tempe, Ariz., was charged by North Strabane police with strangulation, simple assault and harassment after he allegedly grabbed and punched his girlfriend during a confrontation near an elevator of the south parking garage at The Meadows Casino on Tuesday. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.

Drug charges: Rachel Marie Russell, 35, of 814 Howard St., Monongahela, was charged this week by North Strabane police with fraudulently obtaining a controlled substance, dispensing medicine without a license, criminal use of a communications device, insurance fraud and tampering with evidence. She allegedly stole medication while working was a registered nurse at South Hills Rehabilitation, 201 Village Drive, in January and February. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.

Theft, trespass charges: John R. Kelemen III, 55, of 458 McClelland Road, North Strabane, was charged this week by North Strabane police with theft, criminal trespass and loitering and prowling at night. Police received reports from the owner of Herrnberger Insurance, 1815 Washington Road, on March 28 and April 11 that hundreds of paver stones had been stolen from outside the business. Police were in the area April 13 and said they spotted Kelemen outside the insurance agency after dark. Police said they found about 800 stones at his home. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.

Two charged: Eduardo J. Rippe, 20, of 74 Parklane Drive, Canonsburg, and Krista Louise Mortland, 20, of 154 Springdale Road, Venetia, were charged last week by North Strabane police with corruption of minors, conspiracy and reckless endangerment after they allegedly supplied suspected cocaine to a teenage girl April 6 in the 2400 block of Washington Road. Rippe was arraigned Tuesday on the charges before District Judge Jay Weller and released from Washington County Jail after posting $7,500 bond. Mortland, who also is charged with furnishing tobacco to the teen, will receive charges by summons from Weller’s office.

SOUTH STRABANE

Forgery, bad checks charges: Jonathan Guydan, 35, of 145 Route 837, Monongahela, was charged this week by South Strabane police with forgery, bad checks and theft by deception after he allegedly wrote Hobby Lobby, Old Mill Boulevard, a $582.52 check that was no good on April 19. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.

Theft of purse: David Hull, 28, of 1235 California Terrace, California, was arraigned Tuesday before District Judge Jay Weller on charges of theft and receiving stolen property filed by South Strabane police. Hull is accused of stealing a woman’s purse Dec. 19 from Dunkin’ Donuts, 202 Murtland Ave. Weller set bond at $2,500 on Hull, who had been in Washington County Jail on a parole detainer. 

Receiving, theft charges: James F. Nehls, 35, of 6 Vesta Seven Road, Brownsville, was charged this week by South Strabane police with retail theft, receiving stolen property and driving with a suspended license for allegedly stealing items valued at $1,756.96 from Target, Strabane Square, on April 16. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.

Theft charge: Sarah Lindsay, 53, of 106 Maple Glen Drive, Venetia, was charged this week by South Strabane police with theft by deception after she allegedly made a fraudulent return at Kohl’s, Strabane Square, on Feb. 18. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Jay Weller.

WASHINGTON

Gun, drug charges: City police charged Christopher I. Rogers, 21, of Canton Township on Thursday with carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, possessing a small amount of marijuana and driving a vehicle without proper registration. The charges stem from an April 8 traffic stop on East Wylie Avenue. A summons will be sent from District Judge Robert Redlinger’s office.

Televisions stolen: Nicole Tumey of North Franklin Street told Washington police Wednesday that three 32-inch televisions were stolen when her home was burglarized. She told police a door had been kicked in.

Jeep stolen: Eric Isbell of East Maiden Street told Washington police Wednesday that he believes a woman who had been staying with him stole his burgundy 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee. He said when he returned home, she was gone along with the vehicle. The Jeep has a broken windshield. The license is KJS-9931.
