MONESSEN – A Monessen teenager has been charged as an adult in an attempted homicide case last week in his hometown.

Monessen police have accused Jamec Tavon Kizzie, 16, of firing a shot from a semiautomatic handgun into a crowd of people at about 8 p.m. Thursday in the 200 block of Lenawee Avenue, court records show.

The bullet nearly struck two of the people as Kizzie, a passenger in a moving vehicle, extended the gun over its roof and fired one shot, police stated in the affidavit supporting the criminal charges in the case.

Police said one of the people in the crowd had earlier gotten into an argument via text message with one of Kizzie’s friends, who claimed to be having sex with the man’s sister.

Police also charged Kizzie with four counts of aggravated assault and one count each of possession of a firearm by a minor and carrying a firearm without out a license.

Police arrested him Friday on a warrant signed by District Judge Joseph Dalfonso, who set bond in the case at $25,000, online court records show.

He is being held in a juvenile detention center in Westmoreland County, police said.

His preliminary hearing has been scheduled at 11:15 a.m. May 11 in Monessen.
