CUMBERLAND
Boating while intoxicated: Jacob Lee Peffer, 36, of 2570 Route 982, Mt. Pleasant, was charged with two counts of operating a watercraft with a high rate of alcohol and a summary boating violation Monday following a June 30 incident. State Fish and Boat Commission officers were patrolling the Monongahela River near Adah when a boat passed with several people sitting outside designated seating areas and the boat was speeding through a no wake speed, according to the criminal complaint. He was transported to the Cumberland Township police station after field tests indicated he was under the influence and had a blood-alcohol level of 0.114, investigators said.
DUNKARD
Theft charge: Carissa Dawn Chisler, 35, of Fairview, W.Va., was charged with theft and receiving stolen property Monday from an alleged April 18 incident. Gerod Buckhalter told state police that Chisler was at his home, 286 Route 2011 in Dunkard Township, April 14 and took a .357 pistol, earbuds and a watch, according to court documents. When interviewed by state police Thursday, Chisler said she removed the gun from the home and put it in bushes outside the home, but couldn’t explain the disappearance of the other items.
PERRY
Trespassing alleged: Jimmy Lee Butterfield, 37, of 217 Dunkard Ave., Mt. Morris, was charged with trespassing Monday after Greene County Regional police received a report July 13 of an ATV trespassing on property at 444 Hobbs Run Road. The man, later identified as Butterfield, drove around a gate marked “no trespassing,” police said. Property owner Leonard George provided trail camera footage of the incident, and police said they were able to trace the ATV’s license plate number to Butterfield.
WAYNESBURG
Insurance fraud charge: James Michael Jetten, 28, of 487 Bridge St., Waynesburg, was charged Monday with theft by deception and insurance fraud after the state attorney general’s office said his auto insurance was canceled for nonpayment Jan. 8, a day before his wife was involved in an accident. Investigators said Jetten reinstated the policy while at the scene of the crash and told the insurance company the crash occurred after the policy was reinstated. The attempted insurance theft amounts to $2,093.84.
Crash: No injuries were reported after a car hit a parked vehicle at 9:50 a.m. Friday on South Richhill Street. Waynesburg police said a car operated by Geoffrey Tharp, 25, of Jefferson, struck a vehicle parked legally at the east curb owned by Felicia Hurley, 31, of Carmichaels. Hurley’s vehicle was pushed into a utility pole, which was undamaged. Police initially had difficulty identifying the owner of the parked vehicle because it has temporary registration plates. The vehicle, which remained parked at the curb, out of the line of traffic, will be towed by the owner, police said.
