Family of murder-suicide victim sues killer’s estate
The family of a woman who was killed along with her unborn child in a murder-suicide at a Southpointe apartment in March filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the man’s estate.
Relatives of Michelle Krek filed their lawsuit Monday in Washington County Court of Common Pleas against the estate of Naader E. Rizk, who was 38 when he fatally shot Krek three times the night of March 28 before taking his own life.
Krek, 35, was eight months pregnant with the couple’s baby, whom she planned to name Logan, according to the civil complaint.
Language in the lawsuit outlining the basis for the wrongful death claim alleges her death was the “result of (Rizk’s) negligence and/or gross negligence.”
The lawsuit filed on behalf of Krek’s immediate family – Michelle’s sister, Danielle; her brother, Harold J.; her father, Harold F.; and her mother, Bernadette – names Naader’s father, Ibrahim Rizk of Canonsburg, as the administrator of his son’s estate and seeks damages in excess of the $50,000 arbitration limit.
The lawsuit also includes claims of survival action and battery. Attorney Wayne Chiurazzi is representing the Krek family.
