Retired parish location in Monessen to hold auction
Items at the retired location of Epiphany of Our Lord Parish in Monessen will be auctioned to the public from Friday to Sunday.
The parish, which has had two locations since its establishment in 1991, decided to close its site at 618 Knox Ave. to consolidate to its church at 44 Pennsylvania Boulevard.
“It was the air conditioner that did us in,” said parish secretary Tara Manderino. “We decided it would be more efficient to move to one building.”
Manderino added nothing has changed in regard to the parish itself, which serves about 1,200 families.
The auction will run at the Knox Avenue site from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
A description of the sale on estatesales.net says, “Everything (including the kitchen sink) must go!” Indeed, the auction includes religious items such as statues, crucifixes and pictures; household and office furniture; kitchen items including a large mixer and stainless sink; and building materials such as kitchen cabinets and light fixtures.
Profits from sales will be funneled back to the parish, said Manderino, and will be used to fund projects like landscaping jobs.
