CANONSBURG
Jewelry stolen: Brandon Wilkins told Canonsburg police Sunday that earrings, a necklace and X-box player were stolen from a home at 606 Giffin Ave.
CANTON
Fugitive arrested: Jeffrey William Short, 33, of Wooster, Ohio, was taken into custody Saturday by the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force on a warrant obtained by the McIntosh, Okla., sheriff’s office on a charge of rape of a child under the age of 12. Short was taken into custody about 4:30 p.m. at a home on Green Street, Canton. He was arraigned before District Judge Jesse Pettit and placed in Washington County Jail without bond, pending extradition to Oklahoma.
CARROLL
Theft alleged: Charles David Sleith, 51, of 53 Craven Drive, Carroll Township, is charged by township police with theft and deceptive or fraudulent business practices, court records show. Police accuse him of accepting a down payment of $150 June 16 from an 86-year-old resident of Greenridge Drive for a carpeting installation job and failing to perform the work. Police filed the charges Monday before District Judge Mark Wilson.
Assault arrest: Joshua Allen Billion, 30, of 403 Meadow Ave., Charleroi, was arrested Saturday afternoon by Carroll police after he allegedly struck a man during a confrontation at a home on Route 481. Billion was arraigned before District Judge Jesse Pettit on a charge of simple assault and released on $15,000 unsecured bond.
MONESSEN
Man charged: Tyleek Lee Hill, 19, of 629 10th St., Monessen, is charged by city police with criminal attempt to commit criminal mischief, criminal mischief, stalking, harassment and disorderly conduct, court records show. Police accuse him of attempting to break into a residence in the 900 block of Locust Avenue seven times since June 27, with the latest attempt occurring about 1:15 p.m. Aug. 5. A warrant was signed last week for Hill’s arrest.
MONONGAHELA
Man charged: Zachary Ryan Crawley, 19, of 114 First St., Monongahela, is charged by city police with theft and scattering rubbish, court records show. Police accuse Crawley of stealing a metal grocery cart from Foodland, 1223 W. Main St, and pushing it from a dock into the Monongahela River at Noble J. Dick Aquatorium, 200 Railroad St., about 5:30 p.m. Aug. 6. The office of District Judge Mark Wilson issued the charges Thursday in a summons.
Strangulation arrest: Bryan Adam Ray, 30, of 3 Pearl Alley, Monongahela, was arrested early Monday by Monongahela police after he allegedly choked his girlfriend and threw her to the floor during a confrontation at his home. Ray was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller on charges of strangulation, simple assault and harassment. He was placed in Washington County Jail on $5,000 bond.
NORTH BETHLEHEM
Driver identified: State police identified the driver of a vehicle that crossed the center line on Route 40 in the area of 2087 East National Pike on Friday and caused a four-vehicle crash as Clarence Lancaster, 30, of Carmichaels. Police said Lancaster’s vehicle sideswiped a car in the opposite lane, causing it to spin. Lancaster’s vehicle then hit anther vehicle head-on, and a third car following that vehicle hit it, police said. Police did not identify any of the other drivers or indicate if there were injuries.
NORTH CHARLEROI
Warrant arrest: Michael S. Petrola, 38, of 723 Monongahela Ave., North Charleroi, was taken into custody early Monday on a warrant obtained by Charleroi Regional police charging him with simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct. He is accused of grabbing his girlfriend’s arm, pushing her onto a couch and pulling her hair during a June 28 confrontation. He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and released on his own recognizance.
NORTH FRANKLIN
Conspiracy alleged: Thomas Ronald Wright Jr., 50, of 715 Banetown Road, Washington, was charged Monday by North Franklin police with conspiracy and driving under suspension after he allegedly drove a suspect to a home on McGowan Lane in order to burglarize it Aug. 8. When police tried to stop the vehicle, the burglary suspect, who has not yet been charged, fled from the vehicle. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Theft arrest: Malachi Curtis Simmons, 46, of 124 Charles St., Washington, was charged Monday by North Franklin police with felony retail theft after he allegedly stole snacks from Rural King, Washington Crown Center, on Aug. 8. Police stated in court documents that Simmons has five prior convictions for retail theft. The charge will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
ROSTRAVER
Man charged: Fred Ray Clark II, 53, of 331 Pine Valley Lane, Rostraver Township, is charged by township police with felony retail theft and theft over an allegation he returned a stolen item valued at $39.99 to CVS, 975 Rostraver Road, about 6:25 p.m. Aug. 8, court records show. He is free on $5,000 unsecured bond set Thursday by Senior District Judge Herbert Mitchell Jr.
SOUTH STRABANE
Theft arrest: Rachel Lynn Harvey, 32, of 764 S. Central Ave., Canonsburg, was arrested Sunday by South Strabane police on charges of felony retail theft and possession of paraphernalia. She allegedly stole clothing from Gabriel Brothers, 460 Washington Road. Police said they found her with drug paraphernalia. She was arraigned before District Judge Jesse Pettit and released on $2,500 unsecured bond.
Counterfeit cash: Store security at Walmart, Trinity Point, told South Strabane police Friday that 10 counterfeit $20 bills and five counterfeit $50 bills were used to purchase a laptop computer with a service agreement, a Playstation 4 gaming system and two games.
Wristlet stolen: Kayla Durkaski of Claysville told South Strabane police that her Michael Kors wristlet that she mistakenly left in a shopping cart at Walmart, Trinity Point, was stolen before she could retrieve it.
STOCKDALE
Theft arrest: Antoinette Heart, 40, of 606 Elm St., Stockdale, was arrested Sunday afternoon by Roscoe-Elco-Stockdale-Allenport regional police on a charge of felony retail theft after she allegedly stole candy from the Speedy Mart, 690 Main St. She was arraigned before District Judge Jesse Pettit and released on $1,000 unsecured bond.
WASHINGTON
Assault, endangerment arrest: Earl Joseph Phillips II, 30, of 752 Duncan Ave., is charged by Washington police with simple assault, harassment and endangering the welfare of children after he allegedly grabbed his girlfriend and threw her to the floor as she stood next their 4-year-old daughter as she tried to leave the home. Phillips, who police said was intoxicated, also allegedly punched his girlfriend in the stomach. He was arraigned before District Judge Jesse Pettit and placed in Washington County Jail on a $10,000 percentage bond.
Threats charge: Michael George Jackson, 42, of 106 Jollick Manor, Washington, was charged Monday by Washington police with terroristic threats and harassment. He is accused of threatening to harm a man at a West Walnut Street group home on Saturday. He also allegedly threatened to shoot the man as well as staff members. The charges will be sent by summons from the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Assault, resisting charges: Brandon R. Leek, 34, of 155 Springfield Ave., Washington, was charged Monday by Washington police with simple assault, resisting arrest and harassment stemming from an Aug. 1 confrontation at his apartment. He is accused of hitting his mother in the face. She told police that he was in basement. When they tried to take him into custody, he allegedly struggled with officers. Leek was placed in Washington County Jail on a bench warrant. He will be arraigned on the new charges later before District Judge Robert Redlinger.
Custody interference: Washington police are investigating a claim by an 18-year-old Canonsburg woman that her 1-year-old child was taken from her as she slept Friday. The woman demanded that police charge the child’s father with kidnapping. Police also learned the 18-year-old’s mother had primary custody of the child. The 1-year-old was found in Maple Terrace.
Van crashed: Washington police said that a van that was taken from its owner without permission crashed into another vehicle Sunday on Allison Avenue near Orchard Avenue. The owner of the van, Brent Cottrill of Washington, told police the keys to the vehicle had been stolen about a month ago but he did not report the theft to police. The man who was driving the van fled on foot after the crash.
Vehicle damaged: Dina Freshwater of Brownsville told Washington police Sunday that her vehicle was hit with a rock as she drove in the 700 block of West Chestnut Street. A charge of criminal mischief is pending against a 14-year-old West Alexander boy suspected of throwing the rock.
House burglarized: Mia Clark of 398 Houston St. told Washington police that a Playstation 4 game system and a Madden 18 game were stolen in a burglary of her home Saturday. She found a porch window open at her home.
iPad stolen: Jaleasha Gaitling of 30 Lang Avenue told Washington police Saturday that an iPad was stolen from her kitchen table during a burglary of her home.
Wallet stolen: James Kozdra of Washington told Washington police Saturday that his wallet containing $82 was stolen from his vehicle while it was parked in the lot at Family Dollar, 101 E. Wylie Ave.
