The office of Gov. Tom Wolf announced Monday that Redevelopment Authority of the County of Fayette is getting a $500,000 grant to build a business park with spaces for more than 45 commercial, retail and professional entities and result in more than 1,000 jobs.

The business park is to be constructed in the city, the seat of a county plagued with high unemployment.

In a prepared statement, Wolf said: “The development of pad-ready sites will help bolster Fayette County to the top of the list when businesses are looking for a place to call home. I’m proud to support a project that will help Fayette County prepare for the business development and job creation projects of the future.”

Funding is through the Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program program.
