AMWELL
Truck driver arrested: Nicholas Cearley, 37, of Bristol, Tenn., was arrested Tuesday by state police after he was found in a pickup truck towing a trailer at the Lone Pine weigh station of Interstate 79 southbound in Amwell. Police said his blood-alcohol content was almost nine times the 0.02 percent limit at which intoxication is presumed for commercial truck drivers. He also had a bottle of liquor in a part of the pickup truck he used as a sleeper area, police said. He was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and unlawful activities for having the vehicle in an unsafe condition. He was placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond.
CANONSBURG
Car stolen, recovered: A 2002 Buick reported stolen Tuesday morning by Tiaka Pearce of 529 Highland Ave. was found that night parked about a block away in the 500 block of McNary Street, Canonsburg police said. Witnesses told police they saw a black man, about 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches tall, wearing a red shirt and black pants, and a black woman with a thick build get out of the car and walk away. The area was searched, but the two could not be located.
CENTERVILLE
Charged in burglary: Nicholas Paul Simcoke, 23, of 208 Broadway St., Brownsville, was arrested Tuesday by Centerville police after he allegedly forced open a window at a home in the 300 block of Reliance Avenue and climbed into the residence. He fled when he was scared off, police said. Simcoke was arraigned before District Judge David Mark on charges of burglary, public drunkenness and harassment. He was released from Washington County jail after posting $5,000 bond.
McDONALD
Charged with DUI, theft: Fawn Ruth Ferrara, 47, of 308 E. Barr St., McDonald, was charged last week by McDonald police with theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license, leaving the scene of a crash and careless driving. She allegedly crashed a vehicle she had taken without permission into a pickup truck parked in a lot on South McDonald Street Aug. 6. The charges were sent by summons from the office of District Judge Traci McDonald.
SMITH
Motorcyclist injured: Gary Lis, 44, of Pittsburgh, was injured Sunday afternoon when he crashed his motorcycle while going over a jump at Motorcross Park, 136 Bulger-Arch Road, Smith police said. He was flown to UPMC-Mercy hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of a broken leg. Assisting were Slovan and Midway firefighters.
SOMERSET
Crash: Rodriguez D. Hill, 34, of Canonsburg, was traveling south on Wherry Road Wednesday when he swerved to avoid a deer, lost control of his vehicle and hit a utility pole, police said. Hill was taken to Canonsburg Hospital with a suspected minor injury.
WASHINGTON
Harassment alleged: Lisa Crow, 32, of 124 Altamont Ave., Washington, will be charged by Washington police with harassment after she allegedly slapped Lynda Stimpson of Ellsworth, knocking her glasses off her face and breaking them Tuesday.
Change stolen: Robert White of 540 Duncan Ave. told Washington police Tuesday change was stolen from his vehicle.
Package stolen: Rene O’Brien of 650 Allison Ave. told Washington police Tuesday a package that had been delivered to her home Sunday by the post office was stolen.
Man scammed: A Washington man told city police Tuesday he received a call from a person claiming to be from the Internal Revenue Service who directed him to buy $100 in iTunes gift cards. He then gave the caller the information from the cards. Police told him it was a scam and not to respond to any more calls.
Collision: Michael G. Mehlmauer, 58, of Washington, was injured and taken to Washington Hospital Monday after police said he apparently drove his vehicle into the intersection of Allison and Henderson avenues before it was clear to do so and was struck by a vehicle being driven by Lauren E. Rousseau, 28, of Eighty Four, police said. Rousseau sustained a suspected minor injury.
