One killed in California motorcycle accident

One person was killed Saturday evening in a motorcycle accident in California Borough.

While traveling westbound on the 400 block of West Malden Drive, the person lost control of the motorcycle and crashed at 6:11 p.m., according to a news release from Washington County Coroner Tim Warco.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident, the release said.

The victim in the accident was transported to Mon Valley Hospital in Monongahela by Brownsville EMS and pronounced dead in the emergency room at 6:59 p.m., the release said.

The identity of the motorcycle’s operator was not released as of presstime, pending notification of the person’s next of kin, the release said.

Also assisting at the scene were California Borough Volunteer Fire Department and California University Police Department.

The accident is under investigation by California Borough Police Department.
