State Rep. Tim O’Neal , R-South Strabane, will be holding a shredding event in North Strabane Township to give residents of the 48th Legislative District a chance to safeguard themselves against identity theft by having their personal documents securely destroyed.

 The event will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Sept. 5 at North Strabane Park, 1929 Route 519, Canonsburg.

Acceptable items include all paper documents. No more than three grocery bags or small boxes per household are permitted, and no businesses. No large binder clips or hardbound covers will be accepted. Materials more than one-inch thick will need to be broken down prior to being put through the machine. Staff will be available to assist. Information also will be provided about consumer protection and identity theft.
