Three arrested in two assaults at KeyBank Pavilion
An off-duty state trooper was one of two people injured in separate assaults after the Jason Aldean concert Friday at KeyBank Pavilion in Hanover Township.
Two brothers, Matthew E. Cummins, 21, and Christian Allen Cummins, 18, both of Clarksburg, W.Va., were arrested by Hanover Township police on charges of assault of a law enforcement officer, harassment and disorderly conduct. Matthew Cummins was also charged with public drunkenness while his younger brother was charged with underage drinking.
Police were called to a fight in one of the parking lots and when officers arrived, they found the Cummins brothers covered in blood and reportedly intoxicated.
The two reportedly got into an argument with another group of concertgoers, including an off-duty trooper from Butler County who identified himself as a police officer. The two allegedly punched him multiple times in the face, even after he identified himself as being a trooper. He was taken to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh by ambulance for treatment of face, head and lip injuries.
Matthew D. Atcheson, 36, of Brookville, Jefferson County, was charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct for allegedly hitting his wife in the face while the two were in their vehicle in the parking lot. Atcheson is also accused of hitting a man who was among several people who came to the aid of his wife after seeing her get hit.
All three were arraigned before District Judge David Mark. The two brothers were released from Washington County jail after posting $25,000 bond. Atcheson was released from Washington County jail on $10,000 bond. All three are scheduled for Sept. 13 preliminary hearings before District Judge Gary Havelka.
