Donora man accused of sexually assaulting 2-year-old girl
A Donora man is in Washington County jail after he was arrested by borough police Thursday for allegedly sexually assaulting a 2-year-old girl inside a home earlier this year.
Charles Kimmel, 26, of 420 Strawberry Way, was arraigned before District Judge Mark Wilson on charges of sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and indecent assault of a child younger than 13.
Police said Kimmel’s father came to the station to report his son was recorded on a “nanny cam” in a Donora home performing questionable acts on the girl.
A video played for police reportedly showed Kimmel in a room playing video games. According to police, he would periodically stop playing the games and sexually assault the girl. He allegedly is shown on the video pulling down the girl’s pants and touching her inappropriately. Kimmel also allegedly took a cellphone photograph of the girl’s private parts.
Kimmel allegedly told the officer investigating the claims he took photographs of the girl and touched her because he did not have a girlfriend. He also reportedly blamed the girl’s mother for not properly supervising the 2-year-old while he was around the child. The girl’s mother was reportedly working at the time of the alleged incident, and the girl was being watched by grandparents, police said.
The case was reviewed by the Washington County district attorney’s office before the charges were filed this week.
Kimmel was placed in jail on $250,000 bond. He faces a Sept. 19 hearing before Wilson.
