Washington homicide suspect from West Virginia apprehended
A West Virginia man who has been wanted since last week in connection with a bizarre crash that killed a Washington health center worker this summer was apprehended Wednesday.
District Judge Ethan Ward placed Chad Spence, 44, of Weirton, in Washington County jail without bond on a string of charges in the case, including criminal homicide, online court records show.
Washington police accused Spence of driving his Jeep Liberty rapidly down Sharp Avenue June 6 before it struck a grassy area and went airborne, crashing into Neighbor Health Center, killing Kimberly Dollard, 57, of Amwell Township, while she was working. David Adams, 43, of McDonald, was injured while he was also inside the health center on Leonard Avenue.
Police said in court documents that an inspection of the Jeep found no mechanical problems that would have contributed to the crash. Police also said Spence had no known medical condition that would have factored into the crash.
Spence allegedly told police he traveled to Washington that day for an appointment with a physician at a suboxone clinic.
He also was charged with attempted homicide, reckless endangerment, homicide by vehicle and aggravated assault by vehicle.
