Washington County signs contracts with attorneys
The Washington County commissioners on Thursday signed purchase-of-service agreements with three attorneys to represent parents of dependent children in cases where there is a conflict of interest within Southwestern Pennsylvania Legal Services.
Attorneys Anastasa Williams, Jennifer Dickquist and James Jeffries will be paid $25,000 beginning Jan. 1, and the contracts will renew annually.
The potential conflicts in Children and Youth Services cases will be determined by the court.
In other business related to legal matters, the county entered into a five-year agreement with Cecil Town Center LLC, 3441 Millers Run Road, Cecil, for Magisterial District Judge Traci McDonald’s office through Dec. 31, 2023, at a cost of $3,322 per month, including utilities, with an allowable increase of 2.5 percent per year.
The board, at the request of court administration, approved a month-to-month extension of the current lease with Danaus Plexippus LLC, 416 Fallowfield Ave., Charleroi, at a cost of $3,053 per month, including utilities, for District Judge Larry Hopkins, until new proposals are reviewed.
