Two Washington women accused of abandoning dogs
Animal cruelty charges have been filed against two Washington women accused of abandoning two dogs in Nottingham Township.
Tonysha Jimme Wright, 24, of 108 Hall Ave. is accused of leaving the dogs along Sugar Run Road, which left them malnourished while being exposed to the elements, according to documents filed Dec. 6 with District Judge Jesse Pettit.
In the process, Wright and Tonya Lee Papa, 30, same address, allegedly “failed to provide sustenance and/or potable water, placing animals at risk of serious bodily injury,” according to court documents.
On Dec. 3, animal control officer Gina Secreet brought a stray “American bulldog-type dog” to Pittsburgh Veterinary Specialty and Emergency Center in North Strabane Township, where Glen Thomson, a Pennsylvania-appointed humane society police officer employed by Washington Area Humane Society, met her.
“PVSEC completed a full blood panel and examination of the dog,” the affidavit states. “They stated other than a thin body condition … the dog, aka Snowy, had no other concerning conditions that would keep her in emergency care.”
The following day, according to Thomson, the humane society received calls from William and Amanda Wright stating that Snowy belonged to their daughter Tonysha and to Papa. Thomson noted that a second dog, Coal, was in the same condition as Snowy.
“I took several witness statements from family, including Tonysha Wright, herself, admitting to abandoning the dogs,” Thomson wrote in court documents.
