South Strabane Police Department will be hosting a toy and clothing drive outside the Target store at Trinity Point Shopping Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.

Officers and Chief Drew Hilk will be there, inviting visitors to stuff police cars with goods that will go to the City Mission and Salvation Army in Washington.

They are asking the toys and clothing be new and unwrapped. Last year was the first time the South Strabane police staged a toy and clothing drive, and they managed to fill six or seven police cars before it was over, according to Carmine Molinaro, a patrolman with South Strabane’s police force.

Officers with South Strabane will also be participating in the “Shop with a Cop” program at Target from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday. Officers will be shopping with local young people who come from needy families.
