WASHINGTON

Forgery charge: Susan Lynn Phillips, 30, of 26 Pike St., Meadow Lands, was charged by Washington police with forgery and theft after she allegedly traded five fake $20 bills for a $100 bill with a man Dec. 12. Police said the man gave Phillips a ride to Walgreens on Jefferson Avenue and agreed to make the money exchange with her. Police said when he saw the bills she gave him were fake, he confronted her, but she allegedly ran into the store.

Simple assault charge: David Thomas, 51, of 840 Broad St., was charged by Washington police with simple assault following a domestic disturbance at his residence Wednesday night. Police said about 11:20 p.m., Thomas allegedly slapped his 44-year-old girlfriend in the face, causing a cut and swelling to her eye.
